A network management system (NMS) is a collection of software that enables network administrators to manage the various components of a network within the context of a wider network management framework. This tool can keep track of the hardware and software on a network. A network management system, or NMS, collects data from remote network nodes and sends it to a system administrator for analysis. APIs or a standard like Net Flow are used by network element vendors to give performance data to NMS software.
